It’s a delicious fruit, born and raised on the hills of the Langhe, in a land unique for her products of excellence: the Piedmont His first appearance on the scene of confectionery creations was at the Carnival of 1865, when the confectioners of Turin used it as irreplaceable ingredient for the production of Gianduiotti chocolates and Gianduja cream. Since then, the hazelnut (or Tonda Gentile delle Langhe) has become a legend: it was the first domestic product of the region to be awarded PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) and is, today, recognized and appreciated by gourmets around the world as the undisputed “Queen of the World of Hazelnuts”.

The nutritional values of Nocciola

From a nutritional standpoint, it is one of the seeds with the highest levels of oleic substances: between the dried fruiti s one that contains the greatest amount – about 61% of its total composition – of which oleic acid represents 82,7%.

Fats in hazelnut are mainly unsaturated acids – the type monounsaturated (oleic and linoleic), with a composition very similar of extra virgin olive oil – and are extremely important for human food and for their protective capacity on cell membranes .
